Raiders of the Lost Carts features the Atari Games that never were. Great titles from Golden Girls to Twin Peaks, to games about Yuppies and Napoleon Dynamite. Raiders was first placed up on the original incarnation of Atari 7800.com in November of 2000 to rave reviews, however the page and related files were accidently lost during a transition that involved the domain changing hands and an overhaul of the entire site. Fortunately I was able to save this page from the scrap heap when I moved my webpage to be hosted here at Atari 7800.com.

The following are cartridges made just for fun. Most none of these ever actually existed and likely never will. But don't let that stop you from using your imagination. Some are humorous, some are serious, and some might actually make some great games! I hope you enjoy. - Joe

Parker Lewis Can't Lose

This cartridge label design is based off of the hit cult classic "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" which ran on the FOX Network from 1990 through 1993. Those who remember the show are familiar with the quirky nature of the show which was not-so-loosely based on the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and featured several incredibly imaginitiave and surreal elements such as fantasy scenes, strange camera angles and the lack of a laugh track. The show felt much like a live-action cartoon. Although "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" only lasted three seasons on FOX, it broke new ground in Television and made way for future creative hits such as Ally McBeal and Arrested Development. It should also be noted that this particular television show featured an extensive list of Atari products that were shown on screen. Visit "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" on imdb.com

Yuppie

Yuppie is actually one of the few cartridges on this page that was actually a real project at one point. We began work in 2002 on a simple game for the Atari 2600 that was loosely based on the life of a Yuppie. There were to be seven mazes, one per day, per screen. But be careful not to spill your coffee! You would have to maneuver the Yuppie to certain points within the maze before the clock ran out, deeming you to be "late to work" etc. One location might be "Starbucks" and the next may be the Dry Cleaners. You could collect bonuses along the way. Unfortunately the game was never completed and the programmer is no longer with us. Any parties interested in continuing work on the Yuppie project are invited to contact us.

Chris Rock's: White People Crazy!

Video Killed The Video Star

Not a lot is known about this particular 2600 game other than being based off of the 1980 hit from The Buggles, although it does somehow seem quite fitting.

Twin Peaks

"She was wrapped in plastic."

This game is based off of the short-lived revolutionary television show Twin Peaks. Twin Peaks was a dramatic television series set in the fictional town of Twin Peaks in northeast Washington State. It aired on from April 8, 1990 until June 10, 1991. Twin Peaks' central plot line tells the story of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper and his investigation into the shocking murder of a popular young local schoolgirl, Laura Palmer. The program portrays small-town America via a tight-knit community of unsophisticates and eccentrics. The story begins with the famous discovery of Laura's body, washed up on the lakeshore, "wrapped in plastic." As the investigation unfolds, it gradually exposes each Twin Peaks resident to unwelcome scrutiny from Agent Cooper and the men of the local Sheriff's Department and reveals a disturbing dark side to the lives of many of the Twin Peaks citizens. The first season contained only eight episodes and was considered technically and artistically revolutionary for television at the time, working hard as it did to reach the standards set by film. This critically-acclaimed program was beyond revolutionary by 1990 standards and paved the way for such programs as The X-Files and Desperate Housewives. Visit "Twin Peaks" on imdb.com
