Atari Memory : |
My
favorite Atari memory would have to be the very first day I
brought home my Atari 2600 from the store, opened it up and
played all my new games into the night and straight on till
morning. |

Being
Captain of the Atari Super-Gang is not easy. It's hard work knowing
all there is to know about Atari. It takes a strict regiment of
exercise, health, and a high-fiber diet to keep me lean. You gotta
be to be Captian. Every morning I wake up excited to start the day.
I have my glass of orange juice and my bowl of Special – K
with milk. Then, if I have access to a computer, I take a look at
the popular Atari sites such as AtariAge and Atari Museum to see
what’s new for the day. Part of my duties as Captain is to
be on top of things. It is my job to share my knowledge and absorb
the knowledge of others.
The
best thing about being in the Captain's Chair is steering the course
of the Atari Super-Gang and the future of Atari. I am proud of my
job and my position. I believe in using my celibrity status for
good. I want to help the Atari community and help educate children
about computers, inspire imaginations and remind people of the greatness
of innovative leisure. Video Entertainment goes so far beyond what
some people first perceive, it is my job to educate, stimulte and
entertain.

Having
the best Atari website in the whole wide world is fun but it's also
a challenge that I truly enjoy. I really do believe that I have
the greatest Atari website ever made and I pride myself in my work
and my information. True, websites like AtariAge
and Atari Historical Society may be more popular than mine, but
they are also quite different. My site has something special that
I don’t think I can quite put into words. We have a culture
here at the Atari Super-Gang and I try to make it part of my website.
I have a wonderful team that helps me put together a wonderful website
to serve you better. I like to be different, and I want my Atari
website to go where the others do not.

I
am a person of many interests. My main interests of course are classic
video games, namely of the Atari persuasion. I spend a great deal
of time organizing and cataloguing my games. I also like to keep
all of my documents and game materials in order. My boxes are nicely
kept in a cool, dust-free environment. That is very important to
me.
My
other main interests include classic cars and anything to do with
the good old days, being the 1950’s and 1960’s in America.
Sometimes the 1970’s and 1980’s too. Anything to do
with loud muscle cars, drive in movies, Doo-Wop on the radio, Beach
Boys, American Graffiti, Happy Days or anything else, boy let me
tell you for sure I like to be a part of it.
My
personal life is just that, personal. I like wine, women and song.
When I am not playing video games or with my Atari running crew,
I have other things I like to do. Sometimes I am a bad boy. I have
a mean streak and I can be both a bad-boy and a gentleman. Sometimes
I really like to live life dangerously. There are times when my
inner bad boy kicks in and I get really excited about life. I have
the best friends and we like to go have fun and seek out new adventures.

Some
of you may not know who I am just yet, but others will already know
me from my many guest appearances and articles. Simply, I am best
known as the Howard Cosell of video games – me being the quirky
video game expert and historian. Some have compared me to Morton
Downey Junior and others have compared me to Charley Brown. The
bottom line is that I am widely considered to be “a character”
who brings a sense of humor to retrogaming and the industry as a
whole. While I have made several guest appearances and do post on
forums from time to time, my primary source of fame came through
this website where people got to know me very much the same way
as they did Jay
Maynard, “The Tron Guy” and others like him. I just
like to live my life and have fun. For that, the world has deemed
me a celebrity.
My
first chance at fame came at a young age due to my uncle Gary and
his involvement in the circus. He gave me my first shot at fame
when he invited me become part of his circus act in 1976. I was
able to join in on the Bicentennial Show and had a wonderful experience
taking part in all of the fun and festivities. I also got to explore
the Las Vegas circuit in the early 1980s, just as I was getting
into Atari. I always wanted to rescue a damsel in distress and in
1987 I received that chance when I pulled a little from a well using
nothing more than my wit, and a jerry-rigged dongle harness made
of four Atari 2600 joysticks weaved together to form a harness and
daisy-chain that could be lowered down to rescue the baby. Once
I created the Atari Super-Gang in 1981 and had built it up to full
force, we started creating our first publication called The Atari
Super Chronicle. That later became my Atari website and in 2001
I was offered the chance to host my Atari website here at Atari
7800.com. These days I get many requests for interviews and appearances.
Soon I will be making an appearance on Sesame Street to teach kids
about computers again and to hang out with Grover and Snufalufagus
and all those guys. I think it is a wonderful thing to teach children
about the wonders of technology. I also have always liked Sesame
Street. I always liked Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood and Mr. McFeely
but I always wanted to throw that stupid trolley into the fish tank,
I think that trolley is dumb and really think they should replace
it with a souped-up muscle car.
All
in all, being a celebrity is hard. It takes alot of work. It’s
really something to be sitting in Denny’s or Waffle House
and be recognized by the public. I come back to my ideals though,
my ability and desire to use my celebrity stardom for the purpose
of good, and to promote the Atari retrogaming namesake.
