Some
visitors don't know what to make of Atari Joe. His antics are unique
to say the least. But is this for real? Is this some sort of joke
or is there actually a Super-Gang? This page is designed to answer
all of these lingering questions. Enjoy.
Q:
Is Atari Joe real?
A:
Yes. Atari Joe is a real person. He also has real interests and
real feelings. Although much like a living-cartoon, he is indeed
a real person. You can see this from his lengthy videos and his
content on this website.
Q:
Is Atari Joe's name really Atari Joe?
A:
Sort of. Joe is his middle name. However many people call him "Joe"
or "Atari Joe."
Q:
Why does Joe never update his website or post to forums?
A:
Joe does not have regular access to a computer nor does he have
the benefit of consistently good health.
Q:
Is the Atari Super-Gang real?
A:
Yes.
Q:
Does the Atari Super-Gang really fight crime?
A:
No. The Super-Gang is more of an Atari user-group that gets together
to promote Atari and perform community service. They really call
it "The Atari Super-Gang" and it was originally Atari
Joe's idea and is embellished a bit by Joe's creative imagination
for the sake of this website.
Q:
Are all of the people in the Atari Super-Gang real?
A:
Yes.
Q:
Are Regan Cheng and Gene N. Landrum, Ph.D. really part of the Atari
Super-Gang?
A:
Yes.
Q:
Who runs this website?
A:
Atari Joe runs this website in a joint effort with Atari 7800.com.
Atari Joe comes up with the content, Joe along with the rest of
the Super-Gang provide the photographs and videos, and Joe edit's
the site with Justin of Atari 7800.com (Ferris on AtariAge). As
of 2006, the Atari Joe website is edited for accuracy and content
by Atari 7800.com to better represent the history of Atari while
providing more accurate information through a better read.
Q:
Is Atari Joe really famous?
A:
He believes he is.
Q:
Is Atari Joe retarded or something?
A:
Somewhat. Joe is a highly-functional idiot savant along with a very
mild manifestation of autism. Essentially, Joe is a wiz-kid 11 year-old
trapped in the body of a man in his mid 40's. Joe is a kind, friendly,
and loving person with a true passion for the things he loves, including
nostalgia, Atari and other classic games. Joe shows some degree
of "Rain Man" capabilities and has a complete understanding
of classic cars and video games, while remaining in the dark on
many general aspects of life that come so easily to the rest of
us. None of us think of Joe, nor consider him to be, "retarded."
He is our friend and we see him for what he is - a very unique person
with the heart and imagination of a child.
Q:
Why even build this website?
A:
Why not? Joe is a very unique individual and the entire world should
be so fortunate to know somebody as uniquely interesting and pure-of-heart
as Joe.
Q:
Don't you think you go a little too far? At times like these, we
shouldn't be making light of such serious issues as Breast Cancer
and Hurricane Katrina, let alone Atari.
A:
No. We don't go far enough. If you can't have a sense of humor and
make light of dark situations, what is the point of life? Who wants
to mope around all of the time? We believe in making well-thought
points through humor and sarcasm. It's how we get our jollies and
we don't feel the need to justify it. If you don't like the sense
of humor of Joe or the rest of us then you can easily leave this
website.
Q:
Is Atari Joe affiliated with other retrogaming website's like Atari
Age?
A:
No. Joe is only affiliated with Atari 7800.com. Joe is a civilian
member of the Atari Age forums but has no moderator status or contact
with the individuals responsible for that site, or any others.
Q:
Why does Atari Joe like classic games? Why not modern games?
A:
He enjoys video games of all era's greatly.
Q:
Has Atari Joe actually met Kevin Mitnick?
A:
Yes. Although only for a brief moment in passing. Joe does not know
Mr. Mitnick personally.
