Justin
J. Scott of Atari 7800.com has hacked two more games to play as companion
titles in the tradition of Yar's Revenge for the Atari 2600 Video
Computer System. The first game, entitled Yar's
Defeat is a "prequel" to Yar's Revenge. (Yar
must have been getting revenge for something, right?) In Yar's Defeat,
you play the role of a member of the Qotile Continuum who tries to
break through the barrier to conquer Yar from his home and drive him
out using the Zorlon cannon. Yar is under attack! ...and you are the
attacker!
The
second new development, entitled Yar vs.Yar,
is written to be the third instillation in the Yar Trilogy, taking
place sometime after Yar's Revenge. (This makes the original classic
Yar's Revenge really the second game in a three-game series
trilogy). In this story, Yar must battle up against a nefarious
enemy one last time, but this battle is different. This time Yar's
battle is against one of his own kind who has joined forces with
the Qotile Continuum Yar must use his skill to break past the barrier
and defeat the evil Yar of the Qotile Continuum to survive the game.

Starfleet: Wargames

The
year is 2385. You are Captain of the Federation Starship U.S.S. Enterprise.
You and your crew are engaged in what the academy is calling "Starfleet
Wargames," a military war strategy exercise designed to keep
the ship and it's crew on their toes. Starfleet has presented you
and your crew with a worst-case scenario in which you must defend
the Enterprise and three other Federation ships from hostile forces
including invading Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi and Maquis ships, along
with Borg cubes and spheres. Cloaked Romulan vessels trigger a red
alert as they streak across the neutral zone (at the top of your screen).
Gain extra points by targeting and destroying these cloaked ships.
It
is your mission to survive this worst-case scenario by launching
a campaign against the invading armada to protect the Enterprise,
as well as the U.S.S. Intrepid, Excelsior, and Hood, three helpless
Excelsior-class Federation star ships being towed back to dry-dock,
while fending off Federation space with your photon torpedoes by
destroying the invading forces.

Senso
7800 DX is a version of the classic Atari handheld"Touch Me,"
which is better known today as Milton Bradley's "Simon."
Senso is a memory game, where you try to memorize sequences of colors
played by the machine and then play them back in the correct order
using the controller. You can play against the computer or another
person. Senso 7800 DX adds many additional features to the basic
Senso game, such as music, two player combat / team modes, levels,
playing against time, and more. This is the first 7800 homebrew
game to take full use of the 7800's powerful Maria chip. Senso 7800
DX is a Karolj Nadj production, from Taquart.
